We are currently accepting applications from students who are looking to complete a 12 month placement as part of an IT related qualification, the placement will be within our Business Systems Service Desk Team. The placement will commence summer 2017, for a period of up to 12 months. Successful candidates will be contacted after the closing date of 28th April 2017, with first stage interviews taking place end of May 2017. RIBA Enterprises’ Business Systems department supports over 260 staff using IT facilities within the company offices, from home and on mobile devices. Effective first line support is an essential part of the Company’s success. The Business Systems Service Desk supports our staff with their day-to-day IT and telephony issues.

Job Description:

RIBA Enterprises is the knowledge management business of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Through its brands the Company is the leading provider of construction information, products and services in the UK and has aspirations to expand both in the UK and Internationally.


RIBA Enterprises’ Business Systems department supports over 260 staff using IT facilities within the company offices, from home and on mobile devices. Effective first line support is an essential part of the Company’s success. The Business Systems Service Desk supports our staff with their day-to-day IT and telephony issues.

The role:

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing first line desktop support to RIBA Enterprises staff.

Support may be given in person, by telephone or by remote means.

Responsible for the deployment of equipment to staff, occasionally acting as remote hands for the Infrastructure Team.

To support response times and provide professional and courteous service to staff, accurately documenting the outcome.


The candidate:

 We are looking for an individual with the communication skills to deal with staff at all levels.

Who has the ability to work independently, researching and resolving technical issues, who can also work as part of a team to gain application knowledge and understanding.

Experience of Windows 7 and 8.1 and Microsoft Office Applications is desirable as is knowledge of configuration of other software/hardware/firmware.

The role would suit someone who already acts as the informal IT support for friends and family and is looking to pursue a career in IT.
