Our History
1973
The National Building Specification was launched.
1975
The National Building Specification moved to Newcastle, United Kingdom.
1988
The National Building Specification relaunched as The NBS.
1989
The RIBA Product Selector Directory was launched, helping manufacturers reach specifiers.
1990
We launched the first database specification tool, NBS Specification Manager, with Newcastle University.
2000
We moved into the historic Old Post Office in Newcastle.
2011
The NBS National BIM Library was launched in the United Kingdom.
2012
NBS Create was launched.
2015
The NBS BIM Toolkit was launched, an HM Government Project.
2017
NBS acquired Digicon Information Inc, a construction industry publication and consulting company based in Canada.
2017
NBS launched a subsidiary in Australia.
2017
The Old Post Office was named the coolest office in north east England following extensive refurbishment.
2018
NBS launched the NBS National BIM Library in Canada.
