We are currently accepting applications from students who are looking to complete a 12 month placement as part of a Construction related degree (other subjects may be considered) ; the placement will be within our Technical Information Research team. Commencing summer 2017, for a period of up to 12 months. Successful candidates will be contacted after the closing date of 28th April 2017, with first stage interviews taking place end of May 2017. The Technical Information Research team sits within the Research, Analysis and Forecasting Team within RIBA Enterprises and is based in our Newcastle office. Its role is to provide and understanding of trends and issues within the construction industry to guide further technical developments within the wider business.

The Technical Information Research team sits within the Research, Analysis and Forecasting Team within RIBA Enterprises and is based in our Newcastle office.  Its role is to provide and understanding of trends and issues within the construction industry to guide further technical developments within the wider business. 

 

The role:

 To assist in the development of technical information research projects, including externally funded research.

 This will typically include: Desktop research, Data gathering and analysis using spreadsheets, report writing and development of presentation for internal use.

 You will also assist with the development of proprietary specification tools, including NBS Create, develop and maintain the Jargon buster tool and research and write one more articles for the NBS.com


The candidate:

 

Will be a student carrying out a placement during their relevant degree, ideally Construction related however other subjects may be considered. 

 Will be able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail through current studies, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

 Holding the ability to analyse and interpret data and draw provisional conclusions. 

 Will have an awareness of current trends in construction technology, including BIM with technical awareness and understanding

 Have basic knowledge of report writing skills, with an emphasis on numeric ability.  With experience of carrying out tasks in Microsoft packages including Word and Excel.

 Be able to demonstrate the ability to develop relationships and work effectively with the team, the company and wider industry.

 Construction education is desirable.
